TRIP TO SØRLANDET AND THE NØGNE Ø BREWERY JUNE 10-11
As part of our 40th anniversary, we are pleased to offer the above to members and friends of JNS! The Nøgne Ø brewery was the very first in Europe to produce sake and very first in Norway to brew craft beer and the society would like to share this story with you. The name of the brewery means "naked island" and refers to the poem Terje Vigen by Henrik Ibsen. The Norwegian coast is dotted with naked islands and Sørlandet has its fair share. The itinerary includes the following:

Arrivals
Saturday June 10
Departing for Nøgne Ø by bus from Arendal bus terminal at 11:00. NOK 110/per person round trip.
Tour of Nøgne Ø 11:30-13:00 including beer and sake tasting with snacks on the side. Members NOK 274/per person. Non-members NOK 299/per person. We will be one of the first groups to visit the new brewery and the tasting room after they did a huge makeover.
Teppanyaki and BBQ night at Revesand, Tromøya at 18:00. Tromøya is home to Karl Ove Knausgård, world famous author who curated the current summer exhibiton of the Munch Museum. Participants are asked to bring their own drinks. Members free of charge. Non-members NOK 50.
Sunday June 11
Optional: Walk through old Tyholmen with wooden houses dating back to the 17th century reflecting the wealth of the town as an important timber port. Tyholmen is the only original settlement remaining after several fires in the 19th century.
All participants are responsible for transport to and back from Arendal and accommodation in Arendal. Bus and train are available from Oslo and the following hotels in Arendal are centrally located: Thon Hotel, Clarion Tyholmen Hotel and Arendal Maritime Hotel. The registration deadline is May 28.
