Japanese below] One very solid relationship between Norway and Japan is within the field of astrophysics. For this year's first Benkyoukai we have the great pleasure of inviting an avid J-NS member, Dr. Yoshiaki Kato from University of Oslo to tell us how an astrophysicist from the land of rising-sun ended up studying the sun in rather wintry and dark Norway.
Dr. Kato is an expert on the extraordinary environment around black holes and stars and has previously worked at the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) and the National Astronomical Observatory of Japan (NAOJ) before coming to Norway as postdoctoral researcher (http://folk.uio.no/yoshiakk/).
This is not a scientific lecture and Dr. Kato will tell us things in an easy and informal way!
For this February night we will be returning to warm and cozy atmosphere of coffee shop & bar "Café Rouleur" at St. Hanshaugen (http://rouleuroslo.no/). "Gutta fra Havet", a local fish deli, will deliver Chirashizushi especially made for the J-NS. (http://guttafrahavet.no/hanshaugen).
Participation Cost including Chirashizushi: Members: 110 kr, Non-members:130 kr.
We are looking forward to an enjoyable night so please join us!
Please register at event@j-ns.no by 10 February.
